Why we will not sell you a blend
This page exists because the fabric composition label is the single most important thing on a garment sold in this climate, and it is the thing most brands bury.
What cotton actually does
Cotton fibres are hollow and absorbent. They pull moisture away from the skin and let it evaporate through the weave, which is how a fabric keeps you cool rather than simply covering you. Air moves through it. Heat leaves through it.
Polyester is plastic. It is spun from petroleum, it does not absorb moisture, and it does not let heat out the way a natural fibre does. Sweat sits between the fabric and your skin. It also holds bacteria and odour far longer through a wash cycle, which is why synthetic activewear smells the way it does.
Why it matters more here than almost anywhere
The UAE sits above 40 degrees for months at a stretch, with humidity on the coast that makes evaporation harder. Children overheat faster than adults because they have more skin surface relative to their body mass and sweat less efficiently. Anything worn against the skin all day, underwear, everyday sets, nightwear, is exactly where the fabric choice is felt first.
The labels to watch for
- Cotton rich usually means somewhere between 50% and 70% cotton, with the rest polyester.
- Cotton blend can legally mean almost any ratio.
- Poly cotton leads with the polyester for a reason.
- Made with cotton is a marketing phrase, not a composition.
None of these are scandals. They are cheaper to make, they wrinkle less and they hold a print well. They are simply not what you want against your skin in a Gulf summer, and you deserve to know which one you are buying before it arrives.
